Past events include: Michigan Department of Health & Human Services (MDHHS), Social Security Administration; Person Centered Planning; Wills & Trusts; the ABLE Act, Service Provider Panel Discussion, and Self-determination

Requirement to volunteer for one activity, event, committee, or board position per year.

Networking and connections with others in the Community Member Group

Friendship buildings between uniquely abled adults

Emails for members-only events

Social activities such as: potluck dinners, game night, movie night, ice cream socials, bingo, etc.

Recreational activities such as: adaptive biking, bowling, mini-golf, YMCA monthly activities, etc.

ACT Access events such as: Holiday trees and butterflies at Frederik Meijer Gardens, civic theater tickets, museums, shows, etc.

An annual camping event for members.

Social activities for parents only such as: dinners out, wine tasting, etc.

Emails on Oasis events in the community, including events from our community navigation partners: The ARC, ASK, Children’s Special Health Care Service, Disability Advocates, West Michigan Down Syndrome Association, Beyond26, Puzzle Partners, and YMCA programs for disabled adults

Occasional workshops - Examples include: Sexuality workshop and Mindful approach for dealing with family stress and isolation

The ability to serve as a board or committee member on a board that is:

Making connections with local developers to create alternative housing options,
-
Working with municipalities like Grand Rapids and Holland to provide more housing and transportation opportunities,

Making community connections with other like groups to combine resources and offer more programs without duplicating programs,

Pursuing grants to further develop the plan of community living for our uniquely abled adult family members.
Participating Family Membership is required for inclusion in Oasis supported housing options.
