Grace A.M. Smith

President

• Grace is a founding member of Oasis.  Her son has an unbalanced genetic translocation and is cognitively impaired.  She wants him to be as independent as possible and to successfully accomplish the goals he sets for himself.

Camille Lieffers

Vice-President

• Camille’s daughter was born with NOMID (Neonatal Onset Multisystem Inflammatory Disease).  She hopes her daughter can spend time with more adults her age and find friends to live in a safe, secure, happy home together.

Lynn Surdock

Secretary

• Lynn is a founding member of Oasis. Her daughter has mental illness and struggles to control her anger and impulsiveness.  The support from other families and a drive to provide housing for all is Lynn’s passion.

Jeanne F. Marek

Treasurer

• Jeanne’s son was born with cerebral palsy.  He is living independently in a barrier free apartment and working part-time.  She wants him to live near friends and have a more independent social life.

Steve Johnson

• Steve is a founding member of Oasis.  His son has cerebral palsy, autism and epilepsy.   He wants his son to enjoy a life of choice within a supportive community, surrounded by friends and opportunities for personal growth

Alice Lieffers

Board Member

• Alice was born with a disease called NOMID (Neonatal Onset Multisystem Inflammatory Disease).  She is enrolled in the Noorthoek Academy at Grand Rapids Community College and volunteers at Beer City Dog Biscuits and at the YMCA.  She is excited about moving into an apartment with friends.

Helayne Sherman

• Helayne’s adult daughter is disabled. She is passionate about providing her with long-term safe and secure housing options, opportunities to develop friendships, socialization and a sense of community.
